Walmart Fulfillment Services Eligibility — What Qualifies + What Doesn't
Walmart Fulfillment Services unlocks the biggest non-price Buy-Box lever — but not every SKU qualifies. Sending ineligible inventory means return-to-sender fees and lost shipping costs. This guide walks the eligibility rules + how to check before shipping.
Size + weight thresholds
Max weight: 50 lbs per unit.
Max dimensions: 25" on longest side, 165" total (L+W+H combined).
Beyond these, WFS rejects at receiving with a return-to-sender fee.
Restricted categories
Hazmat items (lithium batteries, aerosols, flammables) need DOT classification paperwork before WFS will accept. Without paperwork, rejected.
Adult, tobacco, vape, CBD: prohibited by Walmart marketplace policy regardless of WFS.
Medical devices, supplements: require seller-side certifications (FDA registration, manufacturer authorization) submitted before listing.
The Eligibility Checker
Seller Center → WFS → Eligibility Checker. Paste your SKU or upload a CSV. The checker runs the same rules as the receiving warehouse and surfaces failures before you ship.
Run it for every new SKU before placing reorder POs. Catches rejections that would otherwise cost $5-15 per unit in return-to-sender fees.
Frequently asked questions
Can I split a SKU between WFS and self-fulfilled?
Yes — Walmart supports hybrid fulfillment per SKU. WFS handles WFS inventory; self-fulfilled inventory routes through your own fulfillment when WFS runs out. Buy Box win rate stays higher on WFS-stocked days.
What's the WFS receiving turnaround?
Typically 5-10 business days from arrival at the receiving warehouse to SKU being live + buy-box eligible. Plan reorders accordingly.
