Glossary

Walmart Seller Glossary

Plain-English definitions of the acronyms, programs, and concepts you'll see across the Walmart Marketplace. Curated by a Walmart-native team — every entry written by someone who has actually shipped on the platform.

1P vs 3P (First-Party vs Third-Party)

1P = Walmart itself sells the item (you sold to Walmart wholesale); 3P = you sell directly to the customer on the Walmart Marketplace.

Attribute Completeness

The percentage of required + recommended product attributes you've filled in — the single highest-weighted Listing Quality Score factor.

Buy Box (Featured Offer)

The Buy Box — Walmart calls it the Featured Offer — is the prime sales position on a product page that captures the Add-to-Cart click.

Buy Box Suppression

When Walmart removes the Add-to-Cart button from a listing entirely — usually because the price is too high vs the price-match crawler's reference.

GTIN (Global Trade Item Number)

The universal product identifier — UPC, EAN, or ISBN — Walmart requires on every catalog listing.

LQS (Listing Quality Score)

Walmart's internal 0-100 content score for a listing — drives organic ranking and Buy Box eligibility.

Pricing Parity

Walmart's requirement that your Walmart price not be materially higher than the same product on other major retailers (Amazon, Target, your DTC site).

Pro Seller Badge

A trust badge Walmart awards to sellers who consistently hit performance thresholds — boosts Buy Box win rate and click-through.

Review Velocity

The rate at which a listing accumulates reviews — Walmart's algorithm treats steady review velocity as a strong organic-ranking signal.

Search Term Report

The Walmart Connect report showing which actual customer search queries triggered your sponsored ads — and which ones wasted spend.

Walmart Connect API

The advertising-side API for Walmart sellers — pull Search Term Reports, modify campaign bids, automate keyword harvesting.

Walmart Marketplace API

The catalog + orders + inventory API for sellers on the Walmart Marketplace.

Walmart+ (Walmart Plus)

Walmart's subscription program — analogous to Amazon Prime — with free 2-day delivery, free grocery delivery, and member-only pricing.

WFS (Walmart Fulfillment Services)

WFS is Walmart's first-party fulfillment program — you ship inventory to Walmart's warehouses and they pick, pack, and ship it to the buyer.

WPA (Walmart Performance Ads)

Walmart Performance Ads — the rebranded name for Walmart Connect sponsored search + display ads.
